TF3500 - mounting FDD 3.5"
back
Purposes
- Using 3.5" floppy disks with Timex FDD 3000 or Timex FDD 3.
Properties
- Disks of 640kB (TOS A.2) or 820kB (ZXVGS) can be used.
- In case of high density Amiga drive, there can be used disk of
1640kB (ZXVGS).
Mounting
- The 3.5" drive replaces the 3" one (the metal sheet is cuted).
- The slot on flat cable is changed to the pins one.
- The power plug is changed to the small one.
- The FDD 3.5" can be placed on the left side or right side of the Timex FDD 3000 (big case).
- The comuter and the 3.5" drive must be supplied.
TF37 - communication cable for MB-02 like slot
back
Purposes
- To connect the Timex FDD 3000 to MB-02.
- To connect the Timex FDD 3000 to TC2048 or UK2086 (directly).
- To connect computers like Amiga or PC (through TIC cable).
- Loading of tape simulation files ("*.TAP" and "*.TZX").
- Using the Kempston Joystick.
Properties
- The cable is 20cm long (as standard).
- From the DB37 plug comes out a cable with DB9 slot for the joystick,
a cable with DB15 slot for the Timex FDD 3000 and a cable with 3.5mm Jack
to connect to EAR.
- Inside the cable a serial EEPROM memory can be mounted.
TFMOUSE - mouse for ZXVGS
back
Purposes
- Using the PC mouse with Timex FDD 3000 or Timex FDD 3, under ZXVGS.
- Connection of a modem.
Properties
- The RS232 interface can generate interrupts to the Z80.
- New boot EPROM modifies known operating systems (TOS A.2, TOS A.4, CP/M)
so they can work with interrupts from serial interface (than from FDC).
Mounting
- There's mounted an extra slot or the existing one is rewired (one or both).
- The EPROM is exchanged or inserted on extra board in the P9 slot.
- The interrupt line is cuted from FDC and connected to RS232 USART.
TIC - cable to file server
back
Purposes
- Connect computers like Amiga or PC instead of Timex FDD 3000.
- Loading of tape simulation files ("*.TAP" and
"*.TZX").
Properties
- The transfer is up to 12kB/s.
- The cable is connectable to PARALLEL of Amiga or LPT of PC.
- Standard cable length is 1.5m (longer on demand).
- The "LPT tape playing" (Z80 emulator or TAPER software) data ia
transfered with the cable to the side slot of TI-of-TTL (or Jack in
TF37 cable).
Usage
- Plug one end of cable to TI-of-TTL (TF37 cable) and
the second to the Amiga or PC computer.
- Run the file server software on the computer:
- Amiga - the "ZXVGS.server".
- Pecet - under MS-DOS run ZXVGSTSR.COM then ZXVGSLPT.COM.
TI-of-TTL - Timex Interface TTL technology
back
Purposes
- Using ZXVGS.
- Top button is used to stop ZXVGS software (games) and typing special
characters in CPM22QED. Holded while reset starts the test code
(keyboard, Kempston Joystick, input port #EF).
- The Jack slot on left side of TI-of-TTL can be connected with EAR of the
computer, what allows loading of tape simulation files ("*.TAP"
and "*.TZX") using the original ROM code.
- Optionally the second slot can be activated, that can be connected with
MIC of the computer to transfer the saved data to other computer instead of
to a tape recorder.
Properties
- Replaces the original Timex Interface M-397 and is fully compatibile to it.
- Has expanded RAM to 8kB (from 1kB) and EPROM to 32kB (from 4kB).
- Build of TTL chips only, no programmable logis. Thanks to this is less
damagable and easier to repair than the original.
- The RESET button is moved to right hand side.
- Top button sets bit 7 in input port #EF (239).
- On the left hand side side there's Jack slot controlled with pin 12 of
the DB15 slot (bit 0 of the input port #EF), dedicated to connect with EAR
input of the computer.
- There's a place for second Jack slot that controls the pin 8 of DB15
slot, dedicated to connect to the MIC output of the computer.
- Memory map of the TI-of-TTL.

Connection and usage
- Can be connected to every ZX model with ZX48 compatibile edge slot.
- Computers like ZX+2A, ZX+2B, ZX+3 need internal changes due to slot
incompatibility. Or the dedicated fixer PL3FIX
can be used to correct the slot.
- Computers like TC2068 i UK2086 need the use of ZX Spectrum Emulator cardridge.
- Computers like TS2068 need the use of twister board and ZX Spectrum Emulator cardridge.
- Interface can be connected with a TIC cable to Amiga or PC.
- Using the ZXVGS requires to run file server software:
- Amiga - the "ZXVGS.server".
- PC - under MS-DOS run ZXVGSTSR.COM then ZXVGSLPT.COM.
- Timex FDD 3000 - under CPM22QED run ZXVGSTF.COM. This can be
done also from CPM22QED terminal menu that appears while holding the
<SYMBOL SHIFT> while resetting the computer - when menu appears
press the <V> key (this requires file "ZXVGSTF.COM" on disk).
- A damged or good original Timex Interface M-397 must be supplied, because
there's a need for original cases and slots.
